Christ Lammfelle Bareback Pad Iberica Plus

In stock and ready to ship in size 'horse'. Offer valid for size ‘Horse’!

Based on the Spanish saddle, the Iberica PLUS Bareback pad has a larger foam padded cantle block and pommel to create a very comfortable pad with a great feeling of security. There are insert pouches either side of the spine for composite foam padding, giving extra comfort to both you and your horse. These pads can be removed when washing or for an even closer contact with your horse. Like all our Bareback pads, there is a strong loop at front of pad to aid balance if required and great for carrying the pad. D rings are postioned on the pad for use of a breast plate, crupper and training aids if required. There are also strong metal D rings to attach stirrups if required to aid balance (D rings are attached to the strong webbing material that is sewn into the pad). Girth straps are made from treated leather. Available with Natural underside and Natural, Brown or Charcoal upper.

The seat is made entirely of lambskin and has a depth of pile of approx. 30mm the underside only at the back. With removable composite foam panels. It is especially for horses with pronounced withers that the PLUS versions of the bareback riding pads line should be used.

Total comfort whilst maximising the harmony between you and your horse. Spanish style with large padded pommel and cantle block giving extra support. 'PLUS' means that this pad has removable compressed foam Shims included as standard (shims sit either side of the spine).  The seat is made entirely of lambskin and has a depth of pile of approx. 30mm the underside only at the back

The bareback riding pad sets new standards in terms of riding feel and riding therapy. Tests carried out by independent expert riders and riding therapists have confirmed the positive qualities and the effect of this pad on the rider and the horse. The bareback riding pad allows particularly intensive riding pleasure. The closeness to the horse produces a strong bond in which the warmth and the movements of the horse can be pleasantly felt.

This pad is ideal for the backing of young horses, sensitive backed horses, improving rider position and balance, horse/ponies with saddle fitting problems, horses/ponies coming back into work after a back injury, all fields of natural horsemanship and of course for sheer bareback riding pleasure. Many RDA groups use them too.

Use a dressage girth with this pad. Lambskin dressage girth can be purchased with the pad at a discounted price of £55 (straight-edged dressage girth here - usually £65). Please use code PADGIRTH to get a 15% discount on the girth when you buy the pad and straight girth at the same time.

The size of pad is determined by the rider, rather than the size of horse/pony. A guide to which size pad to choose, and girth size required can be found below.

Like other bareback pads, it is not usually used with stirrups, however stirrup leathers can be attached to strong metal D rings on our bareback riding pads for better balance (but not advised due to pressure issues on the horses' back). You should however not mount using the stirrups and if using stirrups we would recommend safety stirrups.

All our Bareback pads are made of the finest grade Merino lambskin and skilfully crafted to provide maximum comfort to horse and rider. Pads are supersoft and supple, easy to care for and very hard wearing. Lambskin products are very hard wearing and easy to keep clean - they do not provide a breeding ground for viruses and bacteria, and they neutralize acids and odours and are naturally dirt resistant. They have been designed to easily withstand normal washing in the machine at low temperatures and even tumble drying! We would recommend using our C7 Lambskin detergent as regular washing powders will strip the natural oils from the hide.

Girth sizing information:

These Bareback pads are used with a dressage girth - the chart below gives approximate sizes for a straight edged dressage girth. Shaped girths are measured differently as the 'cut away' section of a shaped girth must sit in the correct place behind the horses elbow. Please email for more information, if you are unsure what size your horse will need.

Measure right around your Horse or Pony in the girth area.

Put your Horse or Ponies measurement into Box A in the table below, next to the model and size you have chosen. The measurement in Box A less measurement in Box B will give you your girth size (as indicated in Box C).

Our girths are manufactured in 5cm increments, so you will need to round up or down to the nearest size eg: 40cm

The girth size indicated in this chart is for a straight edged dressage girth, buckling up to approximately the middle holes on either side, giving you plenty of leeway to tighten up the girth, or if your horse changes weight or shape throughout the year.

This guide is only an approximation. The figure in Box B represents the measurement from centre hole on one girth strap, over the horses back, to the centre hole on the other side girth strap. This measurement, deducted from the total circumference of your horse, gives and approximate girth measurement.

 Model Size A B C
6323- Iberica PLUS Full 138cm
6323- Iberica PLUS Pony 128cm
6323- Iberica PLUS SH 113cm

The above Measurement Chartis a rough guide giving a girth size that will do up on approx centre hole on the girth strap each side. The girth straps now have 12 holes, for more leeway up and down, and you can go for a shorter girth, if you prefer the girth buckles to be lower.

If you are purchasing an 'Old style Bareback pad with Biothane girth straps', please email for advice on girth sizing as sizes are different from the above chart.
